Crochet Chevron Baby Blanket

In August last year, after many balls of tangled yarn.... many a swear word... and many a thrown crochet hook - I finally taught myself how to crochet!  I started small with a couple of granny squares and a little flower motif... then threw myself into the deep end completing a skull shawl for a dear friend.

Fast forward to today and I have just completed this chevron baby blanket as a gift for the future arrival of my dear friends little bundle.

I worked on it over the course of a week - working a row or two on my lunch break and a couple at night - once you get in the swing of things, it works up quite quickly and easily.  Once it was done, i sewed in all the loose ends and gave it a quick steam to finish it off.

More photos to follow.

David Bowie Labyrinth Cross Stitch

Every now and then I get a flash in the pan idea - this was the last one.  I wanted to cross stitch David Bowie.

After searching online for a pattern, I couldnt find one I liked and decided to create one myself based on a still from the movie.  Pattern is now available in my etsy store

A few months of crafting during my lunch break at work and he was complete.

All thats missing is a frame.

Exciting news!

After almost a year of quietly crafting for fun... and the odd custom order... the time has come to return to the retail world.

We are excited to announce that we will be stocking a little space in the soon to open Indie Made store :)  The hardest part will be deciding what we are going to stock

It's oh so quiet...

And the worlds slackest blogger award goes to...

Things have been quiet here at Little Robin HQ - we've taken a back step from the markets this year as the work/life/market juggling act wore us down... Never fear, we have however still been crafting.

Here's just a few examples of what's going on behind the scenes

The mojo has returned

Finally back to crafting after almost 6mths off!! Between a craft burnout at the end of last year, full time work and a brand new puppy - i just was not feeling it at all.

The discovery of the most amazing fabric on Spoon Flower prompted me to get crafty for my neighbours upcoming 50th birthday.  I decided to make her a pair of cushion covers, but having previously been terrible at sewing, i figured it was best to have a practice run first.

So off to the fabric store!  I figured id just get myself a nice plain cotton type fabric for my trial run, that was... until i spotted this.
Then of course i wanted to up the stakes and add some decorative piping in a contrasting colour - you know, just to make the already daunting process that much easier on myself. Thankfully i pulled it off and it turned out great :)
This one has been snagged by the littler robin - Emily

Though it wasnt without issues - first i blew up the motor on my vintage husqvarna sewing machine and then went on to break a needle on mums machine soon after!

A few more practice runs with some old opshop sheets (with ready made piping) and fabric offcuts

And i was ready for the real deal.....

Two Doctor Who 16" cushions with handmade piping - now the only trick is keeping them secret until her birthday on the 22nd.  I wish i could give them to her now as i cant wait to see her face.  Sadly i couldn't give her David Tennant, so this had to do

Happy New Year

We've been a little quiet on the blog front as of late - partly due to the silly season, but mostly due to this little terror.

His name is Benson and he is a boxer x staffy.  Unfortunately we lost our old staffy in the last part of the year and he left behind such a tremendous hole in our lives that we just had to get another pup.

Things have calmed right down now and we are ready for a fresh new start. Our shop is currently out of action as we need to do a massive stock take and then go ahead and re-photograph the remaining stock, but we will be back soon :)  We will also be adding prints and various items to our collection over the next few months so stay tuned.

I have been making chainmaille items on and off for a few years now - not exactly a master but i like to have fun with it.

A few weeks back i made a fairly simple European 4 in 1 weave anklet, mainly to use up some jingle bells that Ive had laying around for far too long.  Of course once it was finished i heard a cry of "oh i like that" from mother dearest.... who now owns a shiney new anklet.

I posted the picture on instagram/facebook and instantly had orders for 6 more!!

I will be making a few more of these over the coming months as they will be perfect for summer.  Keep an eye out for them at the November/December markets.

Speaking of markets - our next one is coming up soon!!  October 18th to be precise, where we will have a little surprise.... be sure to bring a dollar coin
