Fused Glass

Whats new at Little Robin HQ?

Well, a little while ago we purchased ourselves a little microwave kiln set from Fuseworks.  It contains a wonderful assortment of glass and all the things you need to get started in glass fusing. And i must say .... its addictive!!!

My favourite is the dichroic glass. Dichroic glass contains multiple micro-layers of metals or oxides which give the glass a beautiful metallic shimmer. It is available in more colours/patterns than you can imagine! While the kit comes with a small selection of dichroic glass,  I ended up ordering some more from dichroic-glass.com.au as i plan to feature it heavily in my pieces.

Glass work is a little bit trial and error and in the first few days of playing, i've had a few of both...  exhibit A

But once you have ironed out the wrinkles and figured out where you are going wrong, what works, what doesn't.... THAT is when the magic happens... you pop your little glass pieces in the microwave.... hold your breath..... and........  TADA!!!!

This pendant will be finished and headed to the shop very soon!
